In the photo above you see Artist Cathy Nichols and me with our group at Perigord Retreats in France. While we created lovely mixed media art, what you can't see is the transformation that people experienced when coaching was paired with creating. It's a powerful combination.
How do COACHING and ART intersect?
I understand the artist's mind. I play in all sorts of mediums and make a lot of art. I've attended many art retreats and while I've learned techniques, I've been left feeling disconnected from the very people who might be my true tribe. As a coach, I don't want anyone to feel left out or lost to the more vocal participants, or find their souls have been neglected. Most artists who lead retreats rightly focus on what they have to teach. Group dynamics just 'happen,' as chit chat and stories unfold on a surface level. This is a lost opportunity to get to know others deeply, and to delight and heal in a temporary community.
I work with artists to guide participants in understanding how their souls, bodies and minds are responding to the creative practice. We artists experience self doubt, blocks and sometimes want to 'hide out.' Our tendencies towards perfectionism, making ourselves small, or hesitancy to say "I am an Artist" means that the world misses out on our unique contribution to beauty. I bring insightful practices, journaling prompts, conversation starters and more to enhance the value, connection and insight potential to art retreats.
What can result?
* Artists can learn techniques, but also be transformed!
* They can increase awareness of how they show up to their art and in relationships.
* Artists are moved to embrace the truth that "no one else can bring what YOU CAN BRING to the world!"
* Your unique perspective, mark making, art skills and soulful energy begin to thrive in fresh ways.
Finally
Art retreats afford the time and space to learn and explore techniques, methods and varying landscapes. Let's work together to embrace the interior landscapes of participants and help them flourish!
I would love to join you in creating art retreats that make a soulful, lasting impact on each and every person who shows up! CONTACT ME TO CHAT.
